magazine feature | brentwood ymca showcase home

See this month’s issue of At Home Tennessee and read all about the YMCA Showcase Home in Brentwood! We shot on a super hot, sunny day, and I worked with a great team of designers to pull this shoot together.

I’ll add some more shots from the issue as soon as I can get back to my office–but for now the cover will suffice! (Or, simply get thee to a bookstore near you and grab a copy!)

magazine feature : st. jude dream home giveaway

I photographed the Chattanooga Dream Home for the At Home Tennessee coverage for St. Jude Children’s Hospital back in May, and it was such a great insight into the people and businesses behind the scenes donating their work, time, and products to such a worthy cause.

There are dream homes across the country–you can enter to win via this link : St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.

The Chattanooga Dream Home was built with the generous donations of so many, including Pratt & Associates, WRCB Channel 3, WUSY US-101, Trust Federal Credit Union, Chattanooga Times Free Press, Lowe’s, Walker’s Oak & More, Brizo, and JHP Contracting.

I love albums!

What a dorky thing to say. But seriously. I love albums.

This is from one of my favorite session albums of 2009:

Aside from big gallery prints for walls (which I also love, but that’s another post for another day), albums are my very favorite way to preserve photos. My albums specifically are perfect for this–as they are durable, sturdy, and archival, but guess what–even I use “consumer-level” albums from time to time. I wanted to share with you one of my favorite sites for creating inexpensive photobooks– blurb.com. It’s a great way to organize your photos and commemorate the passing years. I try to make a photobook at the end of each year–some years have totaled over 100 pages! (Currently I am about two years behind… shhhhhhh!) But check it out and see what you think. It’s another option for clients who purchase their digital files from their session–great for digital scrapbooking!

I am doing a bit of cleaning out space today and came across a few editorial images I wanted to share. For some reason they just struck me as spring-y. I am so craving spring.

That middle image is from Maddux Station. We haven’t been in quite awhile (what with getting a victim volunteer to wrangle our three boys while we go out solo) but we were able to go eat there the other night, and oh goodness. It was fantastic as always. It was great to chat with Matt, the owner and chef.

The thing I love about Maddux Station, besides the incredible food, is the atmosphere. I would feel comfortable there in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt or a nice dress. Seriously though… we ordered a nice bottle of wine and I got a mushroom and swiss burger with fries. It is totally the best of both worlds.

If you’re ever in the Cookeville area, or even just passing through on I-40, you should go! Kids are welcome, too!

at home tennessee : october issue

Oct-CoverOnce again I had the privilege of shooting the home feature for At Home Tennessee–October’s issue features a really cool home in Smyrna… It was so much fun to photograph. The home was built with a lot of planning and foresight, and is decorated with a “less is more” flair. I was struck by the beauty and simplicity of the home–qualities that blended perfectly with it being family-friendly, tough and liveable. It’s a photographer’s dream home–full of natural light, with high ceilings and airy spaces.

The home was a pleasure to photograph, not only because of its physical qualities, but because of the knowledgeable and kind family that resides there–it was truly a wonderful experience getting to meet the homeowners and learn more about their philosophy and experience when building their home.

The issue’s on newsstands and in bookstores now–pick it up!
